When doing my research for what sort of gear to bring and how to function in the wilderness without running water or electricity, I came across valuable info about your packs. The information indicated that each person should carry no more than a fourty pound pack. We came pretty close, not adding in the 38 lb canoe (the lightest you can find). So here is how the weight breakdown went. One of us carried the canoe and food pack, while the other, as the photo shows, carried the two Duluth packs. Add it all together and its like each person carrying both of our older kids. Minimum 5 miles a day.
To quote on of my favorite lines; "There are no shortcuts to anyplace worth going".
Amen to that and bring on the shoulder massage.
